Drama Club Meeting Minutes - September 13th, 2010

To start off, I would like to thank everyone who attended first drama club meeting of the year this morning! It was absolutely amazing that so many of you decided to show up and we hope you continue to come to meetings with us so we can build an awesome theatre program here at East Ridge. If you missed the meeting or simple want to go over the information discussed again, here's what happened:

I. Officer Intros

           A. Our Drama Club Officers at East Ridge are:

                    1. Mary Durose - President

                    2. Kajsa Jones - Vice President

                    3. Vincent Bedard - Consultant

                    4. Alyssa Wynn - Special Event Coordinator

                    5. Dylan Eike - Website Maintenance

                    6. Isabel Cuddihy - Historian

                    7. Ben Gotz - Clerk

II. Website

         A. As you probably already know (since you're on it right now) we have an amazing website for our theatre program here at theloftstage.com. The website is filled with         information such as calendars and important umcoming events. We ask that you check the website frequently so you always know what's going on with drama club

          B. For those of you who use it, we also have a Facebook page for drama club. The page is a group page and its titled LoftPAC. We will be posting information up on Facebook for things that we won't put up here, such as cast parties and non-school sponsored outings. One thing we ask that you keep in mind is that you always check this website first before you go looking on Facebook.

III. Musical

          A. For those of you who don't already know, our fall musical is Beauty and the Beast, and auditions will be this Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in the Loft Stage at 3:15. We ask that you be on time promptly so we can get the auditions through quickly. For your audition, you will be required to sing and dance to a part in "Be Our Guest" (the song clip can be found on this website) as well as perform a small scene. Callbacks will be on Thursday

          B. If you are interested in doing tech, we ask that you stop by the auditions this week to fill out a form of what areas of tech you are interested in. Also, you will not allowed to help out with tech until you pay the student registration fee. (you can actually do that with a credit card on this website) We hope you all consider doing tech because we love our techies here at East Ridge!!

          C. Spotlight - In case you didn't already know, East Ridge is a part of the Spotlight High School Theatre program. This means that a critic will come at one of our performances of the musical and critique our performance. If he really likes our show, he can nominate some of our actors, our whole chorus, and even all our techies for special awards that are given out at the Orpheum Theatre in the Twin Cities. Last year we had three of our actors be nominated for awards (Kajsa Jones, Dylan Eike, and Adam Mickelson) and East Ridge itself won a Spotlight Community Engagement Award! The people from Spotlight will also be offering a workshop in March for those of you who want to get some great theatre experience.

IV. Lettering Policy

          A. For those of you who want to letter in drama at East Ridge, you need to pick up a lettering form in Mrs. Hestwood's room on the 1st floor in the green pod. Also, be aware that you will be required to do 20 hours of tech work (whether it be working on set, costumes, props, ushering, etc.) to letter this year

V. Pictures

          A. We would like to ask you people who love photography to please send us your pictures of theatre! Whether it be set construction, rehearsals, performance days, field trips etc. Last year we had an amazing video slide show for our end of the year banquet but I think that we can do even better this year, so please send your pictures to our Historian, Isabel Cuddihy, at iccuddihy@gmail.com

VI. I would like to end with a reminder that our next meeting is on October 4th, 2010

Your Clerk,

Ben Gotz
